A festival for the people who make books
BookFolk is a festival for the people who make books: small presses, literary journals, independent authors, poets, and artists. We bring them together each summer in downtown Port Orchard to share their work, learn from one another, and build a regional literary community.
BookFolk is in its second year. The lineup, schedule, and ways to take part will be posted here as they’re settled.
What you’ll find
- A fair of small presses, literary journals, independent authors, and artists
- Writing workshops led by regional poets and editors
- A regional poetry invitational
- An art and poetry exhibition pairing regional artists with poets
- Readings and live music on the festival stage
- The Inkhorn Press booth, with every edition of Inkhorn Review, our anthologies, and the awards edition
Who it’s for
BookFolk is built for writers, presses, and artists, and for anyone who wants to meet them.
Take part
BookFolk is built from submissions. We’re looking for presses, writers, artists, teachers, and organizations who want to bring something to the festival.
- Presses, journals, authors, and artists: apply for a booth. Full and half booths are available.
- Writers: apply to read.
- Teachers: propose a workshop.
- Artists and poets: apply for the art and poetry exhibition.
- Organizations and groups: propose a reading, panel, or event.
- Downtown businesses: host a BookFolk event at your location. Applications must include a full plan: what the event is, when it runs, who’s involved, and how it fits the festival.
- Volunteers and sponsors: write to us.
To apply or propose something, write to hello@bookfolk.org and tell us a little about yourself and your idea. We’ll write back.
